Skateboarder Alex Adams reminded me about skateboarding. I first met Alex through Kristy Scott.
In fact many times I would get a few pictures of Alex while shooting pictures of Kristy. Then, Alex and I got on a conversation about backside thrusters. Soon after he is doing them in the bowl at Volcom skateboard park. And I am shooting the trick. Yes we know back thrusters are not the most photogenic trick. Alex and I dont care. Looking back it seems that we put skateboarding ahead of skateboard photography. Consequently Alex made me think about skateboarding.
I hope our conversation makes you think about skateboarding, the way Alex reminded me about it back at Volcom.
Amelia Brodka podcast is a candid conversation with the director of Underexposed. And the first question I asked Amelia was if she had ever thought of completely giving up her work on Exposure. You might be surprised at her response. Next we talk about the effectiveness of Underexposed. And if the skateboard industry correctly represents female skateboarding.
Lizzie Armanto Podcast – Skateboarder Lizzie Armanto and I used to take a lot of skateboarding photos. By the way, in those days womens skateboarding was not very popular. Never the less Lizzie worked on her skating and career. And through a lot of hard work on her part the skateboarding industry began to notice her
In time Lizzie Armanto’s hard work paid off and she became very successful. I hope you enjoy Lizzie Armanto Podcast.
The unknowable can be a wonderful thing or a boring as heck thing. First of all, Renee Chartier was my digital workflow professor. Secondly, of all Renee has a ton of photographic knowledge. In fact Renee can get you in touch with the entire worflow of making a photo. And from the first in class critic I realized she had a lot of insight. As more time passed I realized Renee possessed perspective that I wanted to know more about.

Micaela Ramirez on Advocacy, snowboarding, and Free Lift Tickets
First, this podcast is not only about free lift tickets, In fact it is about Micaela Ramirez. I seem to run into Micaela Ramirez on the deck of random skateboard contests. She always says hello to me, and we have brief words about whatever is going on at that particular moment in the skateboarding world. Recently Micaela reached out to me regarding Poseiden Foundations10th annual Ladies Day and the Berrics event, and I happily agreed to come down to the Berrics to shoot skateboarding pictures. I have to say I was stunned by this event she (and her friends) puts on. Alhtough skateboarding is on one of its up-waves, Ladies Day somehow retained that precious element of skateboarding we all love…skateboarding and fun. After attending the Ladies Day event I thought to myself who is this person that created such a great skateboarding thing?
Julie Kindstrand Podcast In the following complete and uncut podcast legendary female skateboarder Julie Lynn Kindstrand Nelson talks about the early women’s skateboarding scene. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away I met magician Michael Weber. I was a elementary school kid in the 1970’s looking for the latest in magic knowledge. And Michael worked at the Los Alamitos Magic shop. To say Michael Weber had a impact on my young self is a gross understatement. You just don’t meet a guy like this everyday. Weber always made me laugh, amazed me, and was always kind to me. So how do you reconnect from a galaxy far far away, well Twitter I guess. And if you are lucky enough to know Weber its probably no surprise to you that Michael Weber is that same force of imagination, creativity and kindness, that he always was! Read More
